Meet the Dog Oral Health Kit

The Oral Health Panel provides clear insight into your pet’s oral health by screening for harmful bacteria and gum-related imbalances linked to dental disease.

Many oral health issues begin quietly long before visible signs like bad breath or inflamed gums appear. This panel helps identify potential concerns early, so you can take action before problems progress.

This test is lab-processed using PCR diagnostics, the same gold-standard technology trusted by veterinarians.

What we test for

What it screens for

Periodontal bacteria — the “red complex,” the group of bacteria dental researchers link most strongly to advancing gum disease, bone loss, and long-term effects on the heart, liver, and kidneys.

See the full target list — 4 targets

  • Porphyromonas gingivalis — the keystone driver of periodontal disease
  • Tannerella forsythia — linked to progressive gum and bone loss
  • Treponema denticola — found in advanced, deep gum disease
  • Prevotella intermedia — linked to gingivitis and chronic bad breath

Every sample is processed by PCR in our laboratory. Panels are reviewed and updated by our veterinary advisors as the science evolves.

Why the Dog Oral Health Kit

Oral health affects more than teeth and gums.

Harmful oral bacteria are linked to:

  • Gum inflammation and dental disease
  • Chronic bad breath
  • Pain while eating or chewing
  • Long-term systemic health issues

This panel is designed to detect early oral imbalances — before they become costly, painful, or require invasive dental procedures.

More to oral health than bad breath

I recently read about the connection between a dog’s oral health and overall health, especially their heart, and it made me pay more attention. I’m careful about what my dog eats, but I hadn’t thought much about what was going on in his mouth. That’s what led me to the Petwealth canine oral test. I like being able to learn more about his oral health from home. He means a lot to us, and this is something I want to stay on top of.

His bad breath made me curious

Louie has pretty bad breath and he's 7 now, so I was honestly just curious if there was more going on. He had a dental cleaning last year and I've been going back and forth on whether he needs another one. His results came back moderate and showed a couple things, so really glad I checked. Definitely made me realize I need to stay on top of his teeth more!

Wanted to stay ahead of her dental health

I've definitely started noticing more tartar on Leia's teeth as she's gotten older, and dachshunds can have sooo many dental issues, so I wanted to be proactive about it. Thankfully her test came back clear! We're already pretty good about brushing but definitely going to keep up with that and plan to do this test at least once a year to stay on top of things.

    New Staple for Our Dogs

This oral health test was easy to use and gave us a simple way to stay proactive about our dogs’ health from home. It is definitely going to become a household staple and something we use regularly as part of their wellness routine. I would love to see Petwealth offer a 3 test pack in the future. It would be perfect for multi-dog households or ongoing monitoring.

    Easy to use!

My dog Teddy loves his pup cups but definitely doesn’t love dental cleanings. After having teeth extracted, staying on top of his oral health has become especially important to our family. The dog oral health kit was easy to use at home and gave us answers about keeping an eye on his dental hygiene health. Going to try the fecal gut health check next.
