Meet the Dog Fecal Health Kit

Provides clear insight into your pet’s digestive health by screening for parasites, bacterial imbalances, and gut-related stress.

Many digestive issues begin quietly long before severe symptoms appear. This panel helps identify potential concerns early, so you can act with clarity instead of guesswork.

This test is lab-processed using PCR diagnostics, the same gold-standard technology trusted by veterinarians.

What we test for

What it screens for

Bacteria and bacterial toxins — the overgrowths and toxin-producing strains behind most sudden digestive upsets. Several can also pass to people.

Viruses — including parvovirus and distemper, the serious ones every dog owner wants ruled out quickly.

Intestinal worms — roundworms, hookworms, whipworm, and tapeworms, detected by their DNA rather than by waiting for an egg to appear under a microscope.

Protozoa — single-cell parasites including Giardia, the classic cause of post-boarding stomach trouble, and coccidia, common in puppies.

See the full target list — 28 targets

Bacteria & toxins

  • Clostridium perfringens alpha toxin (CPA) — a common bacterial overgrowth linked to sudden diarrhea
  • Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin (CPE) — the toxin gene tied to more significant disease
  • Clostridioides difficile toxin A/B — toxin-driven diarrhea
  • Campylobacter jejuni — bacterial diarrhea; can pass to people
  • Campylobacter coli — bacterial diarrhea; can pass to people
  • Salmonella spp. — bacterial infection; can pass to people

Viruses

  • Canine parvovirus 2 (CPV-2) — a serious viral disease, most dangerous in puppies
  • Canine distemper virus (CDV) — a multi-system viral disease
  • Canine enteric coronavirus (CECoV) — a usually mild viral cause of diarrhea
  • Canine circovirus — a virus associated with vomiting and bloody diarrhea

Roundworms

  • Toxocara canis — the most common dog roundworm; can pass to people
  • Toxocara cati — the cat roundworm, occasionally found in dogs
  • Toxascaris leonina — a roundworm of both dogs and cats
  • Baylisascaris procyonis — the raccoon roundworm; uncommon, and worth catching early

Hookworms

  • Ancylostoma — the most common dog hookworm; can pass to people
  • Uncinaria stenocephala — the northern hookworm

Whipworm

  • Trichuris vulpis — a common cause of chronic, on-and-off diarrhea

Tapeworms

  • Dipylidium caninum — the flea tapeworm, the one owners most often spot
  • Taenia spp. — tapeworms picked up from hunting or scavenging
  • Echinococcus granulosus — a tapeworm worth catching early; can pass to people
  • Echinococcus multilocularis — a rare tapeworm worth catching early; can pass to people

Protozoa

  • Giardia spp. — soft, greasy diarrhea; very contagious between pets
  • Cystoisospora spp. — coccidia, a common cause of diarrhea in puppies
  • Eimeria spp. — coccidia, usually picked up from the environment
  • Cryptosporidium spp. — a protozoal parasite causing watery diarrhea
  • Cryptosporidium canis — species-level identification of the dog strain
  • Cryptosporidium felis — species-level identification of the cat strain
  • Neospora caninum — a protozoal parasite dogs pick up from cattle or scavenging

Why the Dog Fecal Health Kit

Why Early Detection Matters

Many gut issues are silent in early stages. By the time your dog shows symptoms — loose stools, weight loss, lethargy — the problem may already be advanced. This panel helps you catch issues before they escalate, saving your dog discomfort and saving you costly vet bills.

The Fecal Health Panel helps identify imbalances and potential concerns in the digestive system, often before symptoms become obvious.

Gut imbalances can influence:

  • Energy levels
  • Appetite
  • Immune response
  • Skin and coat health

By screening for common pathogens and gut-related markers, this panel supports early detection, clearer answers, and more informed care decisions. It’s a simple, at-home way to gain valuable insight into your pet’s health and take a proactive approach to their wellbeing.

    Easy option

I was skeptical at first, but I liked being able to collect my dog’s stool sample at home without having to rush to the vet just to get testing started. The convenience alone made me appreciate this option.

    Should’ve done this weeks ago

My pup’s had loose stools on and off for weeks and I was honestly starting to worry. I kept changing his food and nothing really helped. Figured I’d try this before stressing myself out more. Collecting the sample was easier than I thought (still gross, but quick lol). Got results back in about 2 days. The report was easy to read. Glad I tried it!

    Glad we tried this

My wife calls our dog our child. We don’t have kids, so I can’t argue with her there. He means the world to us. We’re pretty careful about what we feed him, but he’s always had a sensitive stomach. This Petwealth fecal test has been a big help in figuring out what’s going on. I just want him healthy and feeling good, so I’m glad we gave it a try.

    Stress Colitis or Something Else?

Our dog started having accidents in the house, and we couldn’t tell if it was behavioral or a gut issue. When I was already down there cleaning up the mess, I figured I might as well reach for a swab and get some answers! The test was easy to use, and the results gave us helpful information. I included a picture of him after the bath he needed following one of his accidents. If you’re dealing with the same thing, give it a try.
