    Perfect for a new rescue

    We adopted Miso a few months ago and she came with a little cough that never fully went away. I wanted to rule out anything from her shelter days. Feeling a lot better about her health now, and I’ll probably try the other tests for her too

    Bordetella bronchiseptica detected

    My daughter rescued a cat, and although we were told the cat was healthy, I wanted to be extra sure with my young grandchildren around. I bought her the respiratory kit, and it turned out to be worthwhile.

    The cat tested positive for Bordetella bronchiseptica. When we shared the results with the vet, they explained that cats can carry it without showing symptoms. Having that information helped my daughter have more information for her new family member. I think we are going to get the bundle next that have all 3 in it.

    This company that actually listens and cares!

    I reached out to the customer service because I wasn’t sure the standard swab would be ideal for collecting a nasal sample from my cat. The team agreed and shared that they’d taken customer feedback into account and planned to include specific nasal swabs in future kits. They even offered to send me one!

    I ended up choosing the cheek swab option, but that offer really stood out to me. It made me feel heard, and that they were willing to help make the experience easier for both me and my cat. It’s little things like this that show a company cares.

    Glad to have this test available

    Our gasping, sneezing, coughing Persian was the subject of the respiratory test I ordered. It was a simple procedure that Archie didn't enjoy, of course, but he was only slightly inconvenienced. The instructions for sending off the test were unclear in the booklet enclosed and referred to a shipping envelope that was not included. Editing of this information for clarity would be a simple fix. Overall, I am very pleased.

    good to have a few on hand

    my cat Biscuit had been sneezing a lot so i tried this and turns out she has bordetella. honestly didnt expect it to actually find something so upset at that. the test itself is super easy to do at home too and now i know what to talk to her vet about. Along with the oral kit, these have been great to know what to do next

Dr. Sharon MacIvor is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with more than 40 years of clinical experience in private practice. As owner and medical director of a Miami veterinary practice, she diagnoses and treats infectious and reportable diseases, leads emergency triage and surgical care, and has built her practice around rigorous biosecurity, isolation, and infection-control protocols.

Her expertise spans infectious and zoonotic disease management, risk evaluation and containment, and regulatory compliance — work that has included coordinating with local and state public health authorities and maintaining clinical operations through crisis conditions. During the COVID-19 pandemic she served as a relief veterinarian across South Florida hospitals, sustaining urgent and surgical care through staffing shortages and strict public-health restrictions.

Dr. MacIvor earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a USDA Accredited Veterinarian and a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Amy Attas always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian — there's photographic evidence that her first patient was Spot, a black-and-white plush toy, when she was just five years old. She landed her first real job in a veterinary hospital at thirteen and hasn't stopped since.

A lifelong New Yorker, she attended Barnard College before heading to the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned both a master's degree in animal behavior and her doctorate in veterinary medicine. She returned to New York to complete a one-year internship in medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan, then spent four years at a prestigious small-animal practice on Park Avenue.

In 1992, she founded City Pets, a veterinary house-call service whose team cares for the dogs and cats living, working, and visiting in New York City. A serial pug rescuer, Dr. Amy splits her time between New York and Connecticut with her husband, Steve, and their rescued pug puppy, Kokoru. She is the author of Pets and the City: True Tales of a Manhattan House Call Veterinarian (Putnam, 2024).
